Jets beat NE Nebraska 6-1

The NOC Enid Jets split two games Saturday beating Northeast Nebraska 6-1 after dropping a 4-1 decision to North Central Missouri College Saturday afternoon.

NOC (6-4) hosts NE Nebraska Sunday afternoon at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.

In game 2, Wyatt Sellers tossed five innings of one run baseball striking out 12 to earn the win.  Murphy Gienger struck out three in two innings from the Jets' bullpen.

Calyn Halvorson homered with two runs batted in for the Jets.

"A  tight, well played fun game, coach Mansfield said.  "Wyatt Sellers and Murphy Gienger both threw exceptionally well. Was a tight ball game throughout and they just kept going right at their offense and allowed our offense to strike, and when they did, both pitchers stayed locked in, didn't stray from the path and allowed us to get the lead and then extend it. Proud of the bounce back from this afternoon but we have an early morning with the same team and I fully expect another tight two ball games tomorrow."

In Game 1, Ambren Voitik had a big game at the plate with three hits including a home rum, triple, single, and a stolen base.

Voitik's home run led off the game for the Jets.

Piercen Mcelyea was the starter for the Jets allowing to runs on two hits.  Trent Ritter pitched two innings out of the Jets' bullpen.

"We just got beat," Mansfield said.   "They took advantage when they were presented the opportunities to capitalize, we missed some of ours. Pitchers threw well and the defense was good. Sometimes you just have to tip your cap to the pitcher who kept your offense off balance. Quick turnaround though (Saturday evening) and we need to come out ready for a good Northeast team."
