Jets sweep Murray State in the conference opener

Ambren Voitik hit three home runs to lead a nine home run barrage in a Jets' sweep of Murray State in the conference opener at David Allen on Thursday.

The 10th ranked Jets (16-6) won Game 1 8-7 on a Voitik walk-off home run and then polished off Murray in Game 2 11-7.

"Proud of the way the boys handled the ups and downs of the game," said coach Scott Mansfield. " They just kept within our philosophy and stuck together through 16 hard fought innings against a tough team and came out on the right side of things."

In Game 1, Voitik had two home runs including the game winner, Jordan Coffey had two home runs and four runs batted in.  Blake Scott added a home run for the Jets.

Cameron Marchant was the winner out of the Jets' bullpen allowing two runs in five innings of work striking out four.

In Game 2, five Jets had three hits each including Voitik, Calyn Halvorson, Tanner Holliman, Connor Thaxton, and Gage Ninness.

Holliman had two home runs and four runs batted in.

Murphy Gienger earned the win out of the pen tossing 4.2 innings of scoreless baseball striking out six.
