Jets drop two to #10 Western

Jets drop two to #10 Western

The NOC Enid Jets fell to Western in a doubleheader Sunday at David Allen Memorial Ballpark 5-1 and 11-3.

The Jets (24-19) fell to 8-12 in league play while #10 Western (28-9) improved to 17-3 in conference.

"Today wasn't our day," said coach Scott Mansfield.  "Had opportunities that we couldn't capitalize on, made some mistakes and when you have that combination against a  quality team, you get beat and we got beat. Now we have to pick ourselves back up off the mat and get ready for a five game week."

In Game 1, Western broke open a 1-1 tie with four runs over the fifth and sixth to win 5-1.

Blake Scott had two hits including a double driving home Calyn Halvorson for the Jets' only run.

Western out hit the Jets 8-4.

Wyatt Sellers was the starter for the Jets with relief help from Cameron Marchant and Matt Gienger.

In Game 2, Western jumped to a 10-0 lead and cruised 11-3.

The Jets scored their three runs in the eighth.

Ambren Voitik had two hits and one run batted in while Kyle Bass had the other Jet run batted in.

NOC Enid is at Butler Tuesday for a non-conference game and then travels to NOC Tonkawa on Wednesday.
