Jets beat NOC Tonkawa, stay alive in regional

HOT SPRINGS, Arkansas --  The NOC Enid Jets hit four home runs and outlasted NOC Tonkawa 9-7 in then Region 2 Tournament Saturday afternoon and Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Corbin Kwan and Logan Wade combined to work eight innings allowing two runs on seven hits in back of started Daniel Schlehuber.

The Jets got off to a hot start with a four spot in the first inning as Jesse Ponce singled home Rhet Rutledge and then Cale Wetwiska hit a three run homer to give the Jets a 4-0 lead.

After NOC Tonkawa took a 6-4 lead, the Jets tied the game at 6-6 on Rhen Rutledge and Cooper Smith home runs in the fifth.

NOC Enid then plated two runs in the sixth when Noah Smith and Brody Rutledge both scored on a wild pitch to give Enid an 8-6 lead.

The Jets finished the scoring in the ninth when Rutledge hit his second home run of the game for the Jets as Enid took a 9-6 lead to the ninth.

NOC Tonkawa cut the lead to 9-7 but Logan Wade picked up the save on a ground out to end the game.  Kwan and Wade worked four innings each.

The Jets (43-17) face South Arkansas Saturday night in the championship round.
