Jets earn sweep over #14 Western

NOC Enid picked up two big conference wins with a doubleheader sweep of #14 Western at David Allen Memorial Ballpark on Thursday.

The Jes (30-13) improved to 7-7 in conference while the Pioneers (29-15) fell to 12-6 in conference.

In Game 1, the Jets broke a 5-5 tie with two runs in the 5th to earn a 7-5 win over Western.

Bennett Percival (6-1) worked five innings allowing four earned runs on seven hits.  Catcher Lindley worked two innings earning his first save of the season allowing just two hits.

Connor Cavnar's 6th home run of the season broke the 5-5 tie and then a Noah Smith single scored Walker Wakeland giving the Jets an insurance run.

Lucas Dunn, Cade Christensen, Wakeland, Jake Ervin, and Smith added singles for the Jets.

In the second game, the Jets scored 11 runs in the middle innings to erase a 3-1 deficit and earn a 17-7 win over the Pioneers.

Cavnar continued his hot hitting with three hits in Game 2, including two doubles and six runs driven in.  Ervin had three hits and drove in five runs for the Jets.

Brock Boddie added three hits, three runs scored, and two stolen bases from the lead-off spot.

Wyatt Wilkinson (2-1) earned the win in relief of Jonathan Silva and Jack Jones with two innings of scoreless relief.

What's Next:  The Jets continue their series against Western in Altus on Saturday at 1 p.m./3:30 p.m.
